Excelitas Technologies Announces Consolidation Plans

Move aims to strengthen the company's Noblelight operations.

Excelitas Technologies is centralizing its Noblelight production operations.

Over the next two years, the company is consolidating the four production facilities that develop and manufacture Noblelight products into one location in Germany’s Rhine-Main region. Excelitas Technologies acquired Noblelight from Heraeus in January 2024.

“We are strengthening our operational position for continued production of Noblelight technology in Germany,” Excelitas Noblelight Managing Director Roland Eckl said. “This investment will make us more unified, more efficient and ultimately more competitive!”

The consolidation plan—expected to cost Excelitas more than $20 million—will improve operational efficiency and be completed by the end of 2027.

Excelitas currently produces Noblelight products including UV LEDs and lamps, analytical light sources, and infrared emitters and systems within four facilities outside of Frankfurt, Germany. This new location will be the center for specialty lamp-based lighting and will include operations, R&D and administration.

Excelitas provides advanced technologies that serve global market leaders in the life sciences, advanced industrial, next-generation semiconductor, aerospace, and defense markets. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., Excelitas is a partner in the design, development and manufacture of photonic technologies, offering innovation in sensing, detection, imaging, optics and specialty illumination for customers worldwide.
